Sleepy Sleepy

This is a really good example of setting a bad reputaion at work. I am NOT a morning person whatsoever. I am working at Wachovia Bank starting at 8am everyday. After 2 years of working and living .5 miles away, I drag myself out of bed at 7am and still manage to end up being at work late or last. My manager walked in on me sleeping at the drive thru window today and asked, "Gabe, why are you sleepy everyday?" Silence filled the room. I don't know why I'm sleepy at work. I get my 6-8 hours of sleep per night. Coffee and Tea doesn't affect me anymore. Does boredom create sleepiness? Zoning out and day dreaming during meetings didn't really help either. I need some kind of excitement, and a bank robber isn't what I have in mind =/

Hi there,

Well first challenge you have is only sleeping 6-8 hours a night. Its recommended that an adult get at least 8 hours of sleep.

You should try to go to bed earlier too. Creating a relaxing routine before bed, like taking a shower, or reading a book, is also a good idea.

A good friend of mine also once said, "You should only be in bed for two reasons - to have sex and to sleep" Hehe... So many of us "stay in bed" for other things - school work, napping etc.

If all else fails you should try to change pillows and also make sure there is absolutely no light in your room. The temperature should also be cool.

Hope you sleep more and better - and then get to work on time. :)

Good Luck!

Faisal

no doubt you should get at least 8 hours of sleep. If you want to go to bed early you should work out after work. Since workouts cause tiredness to your body, that will get you up early in the mourning to begin your day. Try to set a schedule for yourself during the week.

Boredom definitely causes sleepiness. I love that I have school work to keep me busy in the office. Since I started the second shift in my office, it is hard for me to wake up that early for morning shift. I had an ordeal on Tuesday. I had a lecture at 8:00a.m and I woke up at 7:59a.m. Funny ehhh? I felt silly walking into the class around 9:50a.m. I cannot really advise you on this because I sleep 5hrs at most in a day. It is bad but that's the way it is. There is so much work to be done.

I think that boredom does cause sleepiness. Can you do your school work while you are at work? I used to work at a bank so I know how you feel. Sometimes we were just sitting there and our manager did not like for us to read magazines, but we mostly kept ourselves amused by talking to each other.

I think you need to change your schedule. You should go to bed early. I was getting the same problem than once i tried to change my routine. And it really did work. Whenever i have to sleep early i read a book or some magazine that really helps me a lot. Or you should start going to gym after working hours. That will helps you a lot too. If none of the above things help than i would suggest you should consult with a doctor....

I know exactly what you mean! I always thought I wasn't getting enough sleep, because during school the second I sat down my head would hit the desk. But, this habit has followed me into my real life as well. I am always tired! Oh, well hopefully one day things will change!

Hey Gabreyl, how are you doing with the sleepiness? Have you been more alert lately?
