California trip
I just came back from Santa Barbara, CA late last night and today I am so tired. For 8 days I forgot about everything from Atlanta and spent most of my time at the beach. I went kayaking and tried surfing which is harder than it looks. That area of California is beautiful with views of the ocean and the mountains from the 101 freeway. I would love to move out there except that the houses are way out of my league. A house on the street where I stayed was for sale at $749,000. The same house in my neighborhood here would be in the $170-200,000 range. The trip was great except for the plane trip back last night. Apparently the pilot decided to try and beat a forming thunderstorm around the west georgia area. The airplane starting shaking violently for about 15 seconds and then dipped suddenly and swayed right to left trying to balance. Everybody was screaming and holding on to each other including the flight attendants. I fly 2 to 3 times a year and never experienced such a scare before. People were holding on to their kids and praying, it was very scary.

See that is why I am scared to fly. I want to go to Cali just to go to the san deigo zoo. Hopefully one day when I have got the nerve up or drugged then I might go. Lol I am glad you had a good time maybe you can show us some pictures.
I am glad you made it back safely. was it hard to adjust to the time difference? I heard the cost of living is way up there compared to here.
my best friend went to california too over the weekend.I personally havn't been there. But will love to take a vacation soon and that would be one of my destination.
SO happy that you made it safely home.
Alfred,
I was a flight attendant for two years and have been in some bad weather. The only one that really scared me was when we hit a storm cell and we dropped like thirty feet. It felt like those rides at six flags where they drop you. My heart stomach lept into my mouth and there was lightening everywhere. I am surprised the flight attendants showed that they were scared. They are not supposed to because it makes the passengers even more scared. Know why I am not a flight attendant anymore? Not because of scary weather, but because I was tired of saying "thank you" when people gave me trash! I don't need to give thanks to others for picking up cups and napkins! And there is that thing of saying "bye" all the time to people! lol. When I finish my second degree, I am moving somewhere like California. The weather is so nice and not as humid!
I really wanted to go to the San Diego zoo but didn't get the chance to go.
Nikita, I'm still trying to adjust to the time change. When I was over I was waking up at 5:00am. Now I could hardly make it to work on time.
Jacky, That's exactly how I felt. My stomach tightened and it felt like I was on a roller coaster when the plane dipped. The flight attendant that was walking down the aisle when it happened just froze in place and then started to run towards the cockpit. That's what got me nervous because they're normally always calm and relaxed. The flight attendants are always so polite and courteous. I would like to be able to fly all over the world for a job. Where you able to see a lot of different places?
Thank God that you made it home safely. I experienced the same thing two months ago on my way back from Colorado with my two children. I was thankful to God that the kids were asleep when the plane was dropping and shaking like hell. It was actually when we got to Atlanta that I heard that there was tornado in Colorado. My father-in-law was so scared that he kept on calling my husband to find out if we made it safely. The flight attendants were sent back to their seats several times. They even sent them back in the middle of their service because the turmoil was just too much. I was scared but the only thing I did was pray throughout. Where I come from, flying is not fun because of the number of planes that do not make it to their destinations, but it did not stop me from flying. I do not really get scared flying here in the US because it is much better compared to where I come from. Anyway, welcome home!! I know it feels good to be home because there is no place like home.
Santa Barbara is a beautifull place that what i heard from every one who hve been CA. I have not got the chance yet. Can you shouw us some of your pics so we can see Santa Barbara through your camera lens. I know it very expensive there. I used to work with a guy he was from California. He told me how expensive that place is? But i definietly would love to go to California someday.
Your airplane experience was pretty scary. I travel a lot by air almost twice a month. Now you scared me.........
I always wanted to visit the Southern California area. I wanted to see the weather, beaches, hollywood and other great cites in that area. I heard that once you move to the Southern California area, you will never again.
